Here you will neither find any kind of video or computer art nor internet art, but reflections with new media on new media.

The four art projects presented here aim to confront ecology with the new media to stimulate a critical dialogue. The direct confrontation of virtual and natural space plays a significant part in the reflection of elementary life contexts.

Global Tree: The Worldwide Tree Network

In many ancient cultures the "Tree of Life" was worshipped. It connected the underworld, the earth and the heavens as an axis mundi. At the same time it was a symbol of life, death and reincarnation. Global Tree wants to give a new significance to this idea by representing the tree as an important element of integration for cultural development. - The morphology of a tree is reflected not least in the directory structure of a computer's operating system.
 

Elemente: Eine Zerlegung (Only in German)

Ein von der Antike bis ins 20. Jahrhundert immer wieder neu erforschter und interpretierter Sinn- und Lebenszusammenhang sind die vier Elemente, die sowohl in antiker als auch in moderner Erscheinungsform das Projekt Elemente bestimmen. - Der entscheidender Aspekt dieser elementaren Konstruktion ist die Zerlegung der Begriffe Erde, Luft, Wasser; und Feuer; in die zehn sie bildenden Buchstaben und die Zerlegung der Zahl 10 in 0 und 1.
 

Gras: Abbild oder Wirklichkeit? (Only in German)

Das Projekt Gras spielt mit dem Verhältnis zwischen Wirklichkeit und Abbild, indem es beide jeweils aus ihrem ursprünglichen Funktionszusammenhang herauslöst und in den entgegengesetzten überführt. Dieser Wechsel des Funktionszusammenhangs will die zunehmende Virtualisierung der Wirklichkeit auf der einen und die "Verwirklichung" virtueller Realität auf der anderen Seite anschaulich machen.
 

Der Punkt: Die andere Dimension (Only in German)

Der Punkt hat eigentlich keine Dimension. Trotzdem kann er mit dem Begriff "Punkt" bezeichnet werden. Auch ist es möchlich, sich den Punkt vorzustellen, z.B. als Satzzeichen. Als solches ist er aber bereits eine kleine Fläche und kein Punkt mehr. An diesem Beispiel wird deutlich, dass der Punkt nur relational erfassbar ist. Der "absolute" Punkt ist dimensionslos. Mit der relationalen Annäherung an die Dimensionslosigkeit des "absoluten" Punktes beschäftigt sich "Der Punkt".
